As leading our clients towards sustainable development, has always been one of Stratec’s major concerns, we have always integrated environmental aspects into our analyses.

n addition, we provide specific environmental management-related services to both authorities and private companies within the scope of regulatory or strategic studies.

As such, we offer a wide range of environmental services, whether in terms of biodiversity, waste management, air pollution, surface water management, greenhouse gas audits, etc.

Stratec has been working on these issues for over 30 years and has several hundreds of references in the Brussels Capital Region, the Walloon Region and abroad. The missions we carry out cover the full extent of spatial scales, ranging from large international plans or projects to impact studies of more local projects.

At urban scale

Stratec draws up and assesses the impact of large-scale plans and projects whose environmental impact may extend well beyond the boundaries of a city or a region.

Stratec performs environmental assessments of a large number of major transport infrastructure projects such as the “Grand Paris Express” transport network (almost 200 km of new automatic subway lines and 68 subway stations); the “Liège Carex” project; 3 new locks on the river the Meuse; the “Pont des Trous” bridge in Tournai; the new subway station “Constitution” in Brussels; or the national road NR5 between Charleroi and Couvin.

Stratec also draws up and assesses environmental plans (flood risk management plans; water management plans; forest management plans, …), and develops tools allowing assessing and following up the environmental impact of a wide variety of projects (such as a tool to evaluate the emission of greenhouse gasses within the context of the development of the “Grand Paris Express” transport network).

At local scale

At a more local scale, Stratec performs a large number of environmental studies related to building and infrastructure projects of various scales in Brussels, the Walloon Region and France.

These studies concern hospitals (“Grand Hôpital” in Charleroi; “Erasmus” campus); mixed-use buildings or office buildings (“the One”, “le Méandre”, “China Belgium Technology Center”, etc.), parceling projects, etc.

Stratec has been recognized by the Brussels and Walloon Region to develop impact studies of the following categories:

  • Category 1: Land use planning, urban planning, commercial and leisure activities
  • Category 2: Infrastructure projects, transport and communications
  • Category 4: Energy related industrial processes
  • Category 7: Water management
  • Category 8: Permits associated with agricultural use
